Taika Waititi Is Hitler In Trailer For His New Movie, Jojo Rabbit

Wow. What a fucking trip.

The movie releases October 18th and the trailer doesn’t give too much away, so let’s start off with the synopsis…

Lonely German boy Jojo “Rabbit” Betzler (Roman Griffin Davis) has his world view turned upside down when he discovers that his single mother Rosie (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

So this is very, very much a satire, obviously. The movie has a great collection of talent, especially Sam Rockwell, who is always a must-see for me…

And, of course, Waititi is playing Hitler (a satirical version of him)…

Waititi has made some pretty wild projects, including ‘What We Do In The Shadows’, one of the best comedy movies from the last decade…

He also directed ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ and the franchise-saving ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. Not to mention he just announced the upcoming sequel ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ and voices the Avenger (he is an Avenger now!), Korg. Waititi is a wildly talented dude with an insane knack for hilarious projects, so I expect nothing but the best from ‘Jojo Rabbit’.

People are for sure going to say “what the fuck” when they see this trailer and Waititi dressed up as Hitler. Here is what he had to say about the movie…

“I’m stoked to begin shooting my anti-war satire. We’ve assembled an incredible cast and I couldn’t be more excited to finally ridicule Nazis and their beliefs. This film is going to piss off a lot of racists and that makes me very happy,” said Waititi when production began. (via SlashFilm)

I love a good political satire, especially ones that tackle real-life events or people. Last year’s movie ‘The Death of Stalin’ was absolutely hilarious and I recommend it to everyone.
